To mark the launch of Digital Science, we’ve produced a short movie in collaboration with our colleagues at Nature Video. The idea came from a meeting with Andrew Carol, one of the many remarkable guests at this year’s Science Foo Camp. It has nothing directly to do with our projects, but it chimes with our philosophy and aims. The video pays homage to the oldest know scientific computer, the Antikythera Mechanism, adding a modern spin with stop-motion animation and Lego building blocks (yes, Lego). It serves as a vivid celebration of human technological and scientific ingenuity through the ages. Beyond that, well … it’s just wonderfully cool (in a geeky kind of way). We hope you enjoy it.
