Through Digital Science’s Catalyst Grant, Reuben Robbins received £15,000 to support his innovative cognitive testing app. The purpose of the Catalyst Grant is to support innovative new ways of making research more efficient at very early stages of development.

Reuben recognised the inherent potential of touch-screen technology to revolutionise clinical cognitive tests. His simple app streamlines every stage of the testing process, resulting in significant time savings for researchers; as well as providing more usable and powerful datasets. The app also dramatically reduces the amount of clinical training required to carry out these kinds of cognitive tests, which in turn increases the potential for their use.

Reuben talks about the Grant in more than merely financial terms, he describes it as “a kind of intellectual and emotional support”. He also highlights the contrast between the Catalyst Grant and federal funding options, “Digital Science was really fast and more nimble and more flexible”.
