3AM Bucharest Kicks Off Today #3AMconf

28th September 2016

Altmetric’s annual conference begins today, and there’s certainly been a buzz in the air!

There was also some interesting questions raised during the run-up to 3AM: What do altmetrics tell us about oursleves?

Our Head of Metrics Development got the ball rolling yesterday in Romania by taking part in an altmetrics workshop, delivering a presentation titled, ‘Defining Altmetrics Visualisation Space‘. The day had only just begun, yet It didn’t take long for Mike’s creative organs to start producing altmetric related ideas! Mike will be chairing a panel discussion on the future of altmetrics on Thursday.

This year, at 3AM, the audience will hear keynote presentations by Dan Penny, Head of Insight at Nature Publishing Group, and Rene Von Schomberg, Teamleader Science Policy at the European Commission. They’ll also bear witness to a wide array of topics ranging from cultural and geographical factors in science, altmetrics around the world, lighting talks from leading speakers, a hack day, and much, much more!

In keeping with the tradition of global scientific collaboration, 3AM sponsors have made it possible for a number of researchers from around the world to receive travel grants!

I’m sure all of you who will be attending can’t wait to get stuck into some challenging discussion around altmetrics! For those who couldn’t make it – there’s always next year!
