George Santangelo, Director at Office of Portfolio Analysis, National Institutes of Health (NIH)

George Santangelo has been Director of the Office of Portfolio Analysis in DPCPSI since 2011. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his doctorate from Yale University. A genomicist and data scientist before coming to NIH, he is widely recognized for discoveries that advanced our understanding of transcriptional regulation, which have been featured in The Scientist magazine and designated “must read” by the Faculty of 1000. He has been at NIH since 2009, and is a recipient of NIGMS’s Outstanding Communicator Award.

Euan Adie, Founder and CEO, Altmetric

Euan founded Altmetric in 2011 and remains its CEO, leading the company and working to set its future direction.

Originally a medical genetics researcher he got into science communication by way of product manager roles at Nature Publishing Group and then Digital Science. He remains passionate about how science is practiced and communicated online (also cinnamon swirls).

 

Mike Taylor, Head of Metrics Development, Digital Science

Mike Taylor is Head of Metrics Development at Digital Science. He has spent many years working in Elsevier’s R&D group and in the Metrics and Analytics Team. Mike works with many community groups, including FORCE11, RDA and NISO, and is well known in the scholarly metrics community. Mike is studying for a PhD in alternative metrics at the University of Wolverhampton.

stephen_leicht2Steve is a Managing Director and Co-founder of ÜberResearch. He was previously the CEO of 52apps Inc, a mobile software development company, and has held leadership roles at Collexis Holdings Inc, IBM Corporation, and International Telecommunications Distributors Inc. He serves on boards and advisory committees for several companies and industry groups and is a regular speaker at industry events on the use of semantic and mobile technologies in discovery and social collaboration.

Laura Wheeler is the Community Manager for Digital Science. Having joined the team in 2013, Laura is tasked with growing the presence of Digital Science and is always busy helping to build online communities . Having studied Biochemistry Laura left the lab life for science communication roles at the BBC and at Nature Publishing Group.
