Today is an important day for us at Digital Science – it’s International Women’s Day. It’s not just a day to celebrate the great women that work across our businesses, but it is also a day to celebrate all women globally and to commit to gender equality!

This year’s theme is Be Bold For Change. It’s a chance to call on the masses, or to call on yourself, to help forge a better working world
– a more inclusive, gender equal world!

Global action is needed to accelerate gender parity, and as a global business we are supporting this campaign in the best ways we can.

How we are being #BeBoldForChange

Today, at our London HQ we are hosting a special screening of Eat.Sleep.STEM.Repeat a new documentary about young female tech entrepreneurs. In 2015, only 14% of those working in the UK’s STEM industries were women – this needs to change and this film offers a heart-warming exploration into what would happen to the world if more girls were to Eat. Sleep. STEM. Repeat!

Elsewhere, some of our female staff are joining the campaign in the US to speak up for female equality. Stacy Konkiel, Director of Research & Education at Altmetric explains her motives:

“I’m lucky enough to work for a supportive employer, doing a job that I love! It’s my duty, as a person of privilege who can strike, to spend today supporting those struggling under neoliberalism.”

As we wear the colour red today in support of #BeBoldForChange – please do take a moment to reflect on all the groundbreaking action taking place across the globe.

On behalf of Digital Science, we’d like to wish you all a Happy International Women’s Day:
