To celebrate Peer Review Week 2016 ( #PeerRevWk16), we’ve asked a collection of experts what peer review means to them.

In the video below, we hear from a range of industry professionals including several career researchers, the founder of Publons and a publisher from BioMed Central.

Their answers reflected the wide range of issues facing peer review today and also reminded us of the responsibility each working scientist has in monitoring what information reaches the wider world.

andrew preston publonsAndrew Preston, Founder, Publons:

“Peer review is at the heart of research; it’s central to everything we’re doing. It’s the thing that allows us to really trust the research that’s published and the literature that is out there”

Scientists really are the sentinels of science!

What does peer review mean to you….? Join in the discussion and share with us your thoughts using #peerviews.
