Phill Jones, Head of Publisher Outreach at Digital Science, will be moderating an SSP seminar, “A Day in the Life of a Scholarly Publisher: Tasks, Issues, Career Options”

In Phill’s own words,

“A Day in the Life of a Scholarly Publisher is the third of the fall seminars and the first part of a two-part series on professional development. Attendees can expect to be entertained and informed by a series of very experienced public speakers who’ll give them a personalized guided tour of the publishing industry as they see it. Whether attendees are in the industry themselves or looking to learn more about it, there’ll be insights into the sorts of things that publishers actually do on a daily basis, as well as advice on career paths, getting hired and making a difference in scholarly communication.”

On the same day, in the afternoon, Sara Rouhi, Product Sales Manager at Altmetric, is talking in the ‘A Day in the Life of a Librarian: The evolving expertise and skills of the “new academic librarian”‘ session

Mary Anne Baynes, Chief Marketing Officer at Overleaf, is speaking in SSP’s New Tools and Workflows for Manuscript Submission and Peer Review”  on the morning of September 16th.

Robert McGrath, CEO of ReadCube, is speaking in the afternoon session on the same day, New Technology Developments for Content Discovery, Delivery, & Reporting”

All these seminars in SSP’s Fall 2015 series will be held at the Washington D.C. offices of the American Geophysical Union.
