Recent industry developments have challenged institutions to rethink their strategy for managing their institutional repository infrastructure and publishing workflows.

Digital Science is hosting a special webinar where industry experts will come together to discuss the way forward for institutional repository platform strategy and development.

Mark Hahnel, Founder and CEO of Figshare, will share his perspective on how providers should work in a responsible manner with institutions to assure the institution flexibility and sustainability with their IRs. Mark will also discuss how the IR needs for a smaller academic institution might differ from a larger one and what options are available for both.

Charles Watkinson, Associate University Librarian, Publishing, at the University of Michigan, will provide a highly informed institutional view on this topic given his extensive experience both with Deep Blue – University of Michigan’s highly impressive IR, and also from running a university press. Charles will also discuss the two roles of an IR – one, to act as a publishing and dissemination mechanism, and second, to provide a route to OA for the institution.

David Scherer, Scholarly Communications and Research Curation Consultant with the University Libraries at Carnegie Mellon University, with his reflections on the future of the institutional repository.

A questions and answers session will follow presentations from the speakers.
