Supporting Open Research Across Many Different Communities Worldwide

One of the best things about working at Digital Science is witnessing the support that our organization and portfolio companies regularly offer to open access, open science, and open research initiatives in the wider scholarly community.

This month at ACRL 2017, Digital Science sponsored a meet and greet for editors of the new open access, scholarly communication-focused overlay journal for librarians, The Idealis, which I co-founded along with Lily Troia (Altmetric’s Engagement Manager) and Nicky Agate (‎Head of Digital Initiatives at Modern Language Association). Thanks to Digital Science’s support, we were able to welcome librarians and technologists from across the US to talk open access, libraries, and innovative approaches to publishing that evening, and had a lot of fun doing so!

Digital Science’s London office also regularly hosts satellite events for OpenCon and other community-minded events like this one devoted to open data and, in Denver, this recent event devoted to open access infrastructure, while in Edinburgh we’ve sponsored the public engagement-focused ReCon conference.

Digital Science’s portfolio companies also support loads of great open science-minded endeavors: Figshare has explored Open Data with some of the field’s top thinkers; Altmetric and Overleaf recently teamed up to get high schoolers experimenting with big data; and Overleaf is the driving force behind many open-oriented topics at the FuturePub event series, including these recent talks on developments in scholarly collaboration technology:

I may be biased, but I am impressed with and grateful for how much Digital Science and all our companies do to support open research across many different communities worldwide.

Thanks, team!
