Addition of Web of Science citations and improved functionality will help users uncover competitive insights

Our portfolio company Altmetric, today announced the release of a new version of the Explorer for Publishers platform. Designed to make it easier than ever for publishers to explore and report on the online engagement and academic impact for their own articles, books, datasets and other publications, the platform also offers insights into the competitive landscape.

The newly designed interface contains collated attention data and citations from Scopus and Web of Science for over eight million research outputs. Users have access to extensive search capabilities, colourful visualisations and a variety of export options to enable further analysis to glean competitive insights, helping to drive better informed strategic decision making.

Speaking about the development of the new platform, Altmetric’s Product Development Manager Jean Liu commented,

“Our newly designed platform is a result of our close work with our publisher partners. Their feedback has enabled us to to understand their needs and enrich the platform with sought-after data, analysis tools, new search and browsing features, and a suite of rich visualisations.”

Danny Davies, Senior Digital Innovation Executive at Cambridge University Press and part of the beta testing program set up to help develop the second generation tool, adds,

“It’s particularly great to now be able to filter and report on the attention for books – functionality which wasn’t available in the previous version. Intelligence around book usage is a key growth area for us and the data provided by Altmetric will help us identify new opportunities and refine the scope and direction of our existing portfolio.”

The new Explorer for Publishers is available now.
