pw logoToday, our portfolio company Overleaf announced a partnership with Peerwith –  a marketplace for author services, matching academics seeking support for their work with experts.

What’s Peerwith?

Peerwith was founded by Joris van Rossum and Ivo Verbeek, who both have extensive backgrounds in academic publishing and product development. Peerwith is a platform for author services, matching academics seeking support for their work with experts who can help out with language editing and translation, format and design, consulting, or whatever else academics need. Through Peerwith, academics are able to collaborate directly with a global pool of experts. Moreover, Peerwith allows experts to build a visible profile through ratings and recommendations. Peerwith services are offered through www.peerwith.com, as well as through integrations with various publishers, workflow tools and institutes.

The partnership
Users of Overleaf’s online LaTeX and rich text collaborative writing and publishing platform will be able to link to Peerwith and sign on automatically to the Peerwith platform, where they can search and find experts across varying disciplines such as translators, illustrators and editors. They can then easily share their documents with experts within Peerwith who can provide these author services directly within the Overleaf platform.

Joris van Rossum, Co-founder and CEO, Peerwith said:

“Our aim is to connect research professionals of the highest standards with each other, making the process as affordable and simple as possible. Academics and service providers often have problems finding each other and these services can be more expensive and slower than necessary. Our community-based platform speeds up this whole process. This partnership will more easily connect Overleaf users with our experts to speed up collaboration.”

Peerwith has developed a unique, peer-to-peer, cloud-based platform to find, select, and directly collaborate with experts offering a variety of author services. With integrations as an important focus and strength, Peerwith is building on strong partnerships with publishing platforms, workflow tools and academic institutes.

John Hammersley, Co-Founder and CEO, Overleaf said:

“Just like Overleaf, we believe that Peerwith has the capability to significantly impact how researchers connect and work together. This new partnership with Peerwith will bolster our author offerings allowing our users to easily search for a plethora of service providers including: language editors, illustrators, statistical and grant proposal consultants, to name but a few.”
