Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 14.36.29Back in April, a team of Informetrics researchers from Leiden University published a manifesto in the journal Nature. The goal of the article was to try to simply and concisely communicate some of the key themes surrounding the study of research metrics. The researchers drew out ten principles that included recommendations such as avoiding false precision in calculating the impact factor to protecting excellence in locally relevant research.

In an effort to make the content as accessible as possible, Diana Hicks released a video version of the manifesto a couple of weeks ago. It’s well worth a watch if you’ve ever asked yourself what all this alternative metrics stuff means.
