Helping you to share knowledge fast and without boundaries.
We’ve been busy working on ways to help you carry on where possible during the COVID-19 crisis. Read on to find out how Overleaf and Writefull can support remote researchers’ academic writing, how Dimensions and ReadCube are opening up access to content, and how Figshare is helping share content that would have been presented at conferences, among other things!
New COVID-19 Research Pass provides direct access to over 26 million articles
While most of the latest content being published on COVID-19 is open access, researchers studying the disease often need access to related prior work that is often restricted behind paywalls. So, in collaboration with leading scholarly publishers, ReadCube has launched a new COVID-19 Research Pass that provides direct access to over 26 million articles and is available to anyone studying COVID-19.
Free access to COVID-19 publications, datasets and clinical trials
We’ve made all relevant content on COVID-19 in Dimensions freely available as a single export file, updated daily, to make sharing the latest research information easier. The file contains the details of (and links to) all relevant publications, datasets and clinical trials. Please share this information with anyone you think would benefit from it.
Remote working and collaboration easier than ever with Overleaf
Overleaf is committed to helping everyone continue to collaborate and work as needed from a remote environment, which is why we’re providing free upgrades to Overleaf Professional accounts for the next two months to those in need.

Reproducibility and reporting practices in COVID-19 preprints
Right now research needs to be shared quickly. Without formal peer review, many researchers worry about the potential lack of robustness of research shared as preprints. Over 500 COVID-19 related preprints were screened by Ripeta to assess trustworthiness. Their automated tool took 30 minutes as opposed to 45 hours when done manually.
Bringing together scientists to help with COVID-19 testing and R&D
Scismic is bringing together their community of scientists to support greater healthcare efforts with diagnostic testing, manufacturing, and vaccine development. 600 scientists from the Scismic community have raised their hands to help. They are already working with a Cambridge-based biotech startup and are looking for more labs working on COVID-19 diagnostics and vaccines around the US.
CUP offers Writefull’s language check for free to authors submitting COVID-19-manuscripts
Cambridge University Press (CUP) and Writefull have set up a collaboration to ensure COVID-19 research is published with as little delay as possible. Over the next three months, authors submitting COVID-19-related manuscripts to eight relevant journals are invited to use Writefull’s language check for free. We hope that this collaboration will help streamline the publication of research that matters most right now.

We’re collaborating with Zhipu.AI to build a COVID-19 information portal
Digital Science is working in a partnership with Zhipu.AI, a spin-out from Tsinghua University, to solve pressing data challenges and build a COVID-19 information portal. The project will ensure that both English and Chinese-language information is as widely shared as possible with all related publications, datasets and clinical trials.
