Digital Science are delighted to be  a sponsor of the 2020 CISPC (Challenges in the Scholarly Publishing Cycle) Conference organised by Research Information.  Isabel Thompson, Head of Data Platform at Digital Science, will also be presenting the following lightning talk as part of the programme on Monday 30 November from 15:40 – 15:50 GMT:

Dimensions on Google BigQuery: The world’s largest and most diverse research information data set at your analytical fingertips
Everyone has data – but too often that data can’t actually be used to generate insight that is specific or personalised enough to help with a pressing decision. In this talk we showcase a new, efficient approach for getting to the answers you need. We’ll give a high level overview, and then provide a practical illustration with a live demo. The demo will show how you can connect BigQuery to your existing analytical and reporting infrastructure to derive a bespoke set of insights on Open Access. This type of approach could be used to inform Transformative Deals, collection development, author behaviour and more.

The online 2020 conference will build on the success of last year’s event by providing librarians and information professionals with deeper knowledge and understanding of communication strategies for open research.  This year’s themes are:

  • Best practice changes post-Covid
  • Streamlining the process of open submissions
  • Best practice in submitting, storing and accessing open and FAIR data
  • Implementing software/browser tools to aid open research processes
  • Effective communication of approaches to open research
