We are looking for a new Junior Developer to join our team!
Symplectic works in pursuit of the advancement of knowledge, delivering software solutions and services that help organisations achieve their research goals. We are a leader in both Research Management and Grants Management with a global and growing client base of prestigious academic institutions, funders, government agencies and other research organisations. About the role
You will be a junior full-stack developer, working as part of a product development team who design, develop and deliver our flagship product Symplectic Elements for our clients around the globe. We develop software in a friendly and flexible working environment, working collaboratively in cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and support our clients.
Using best practices, you will be developing and supporting our products by both adding new functionality and maintaining existing code. You will have opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects, working with different parts of our technology stack and working closely with different members of our team.
Our products are always evolving, so we first and foremost want our team to have excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Our solutions are based on a wide range of technologies, though the majority of work involves .NET and React, so experience with these technologies (or similar) is a plus. Ultimately, we’re looking for people who are keen to learn and are flexible in their approach.
You have lots of opportunities to learn on the job with built-in support from more experienced members of our team through activities like pair programming and informative code reviews. We encourage every member of our team to have a voice and help shape both our products and our team culture, so we value excellent communication skills and people who want to collaborate to get things done.
Key tasks will include:
- Software engineering to maintain existing code and implement new product functionality and infrastructure tools.
- Learning about and applying relevant programming technologies, frameworks, paradigms and best practices, and adhering to technical standards.
- Contributing to the planning, design and delivery of product enhancements.
- Producing and maintaining effective test plans, data and scripts as appropriate.
- Writing and maintaining associated technical documentation.
- Working with the Support Team to provide support and technical troubleshooting
We’re looking for a junior developer with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to learn rapidly and apply engineering principles.
You will also have:
- A degree in a technical subject, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional team.
