The NLP Data Scientist will support the data science and customer support teams. You will work with our small group of domain experts to understand and communicate customer needs to drive updates and improvements to the machine learning models. This includes support to help align the data science roadmap and priorities with customer needs and requests, and building reports and reporting tools or rapid prototypes of machine learning solutions for customers and leadership teams. We expect a candidate that fits into our accepting and encouraging culture. 


  • Propose and implement new Machine Learning models using NLP tools
  • Collaborate with the Lead Data Scientist and Data Engineers in defining metrics, guidelines, and workflows 
  • Contribute code to improve our current data handling processes 
  • Optimize performance of databases and web services 
  • Carry out software testing (unit, validation, integration) 
  • Document all work and processes using common tools and shared repositories
  • Prepare data science algorithms for production environments 
  • Work alongside our data scientist in creating and evaluating new models 
  • Collaborate with data engineers to improve our current data pipelines 
  • Improve our existing algorithms using NLP techniques 
  • Create dashboards and reports for our clients 
  • Help in creating instances for annotations 
  • Test and give feedback on our current algorithms

Need to have

  • Bachelor of science degree in Data Science, Linguistics, Computer Science, or equivalent degree or experience 
  • Experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Semantics, or Computational Linguistics 
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms 
  • Experience with Machine Learning and NLP tools such as scikit, nltk and spaCy
  • At least 1 year of experience with Python or R
  • Familiarity with querying databases (SQL or noSQL) 
  • Knowledge in creating analytical reports using data visualization tool(s)
  • Practical knowledge of version control systems, such as GitHub 
  • High integrity and capacity to learn quickly 
  • Ability to apply critical and analytical thinking for problem-solving 
  • Fluency in English (minimum B1) 
  • Ability to work on a team and communicate your work 
  • Transparency in all your work (even when some of the work is not perfect)

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Linguistics, Computer Science, or equivalent (apply regardless of degree if you think you have other qualifications) 
  • Experience with language annotation tools, such as Prodigy 
  • Knowledge of Agile practices (scrum methodology) 
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as GCE or AWS 
  • Familiarity with the scientific research domain Familiarity with biomedical/medical sciences
