Software Developer – Symplectic
Digital Science | London
We have an immediate vacancy for a Software Developer to join the company’s development team based in London.
Symplectic prides itself on having a collaborative working environment and the successful candidate will quickly find themselves working with and learning from the whole team. Solving complex problems and keeping our clients happy is what we do best, and we’re looking for someone that will help us maintain these high standards.
You will have excellent academic results in a scientific or technical subject – but not necessarily computer science. A relevant degree would be advantageous, but otherwise, if there is evidence you can show us of your excellent analytical problem-solving skills, we’d be willing to consider you for the position. You should also have superb communication skills and written English, be eager to share your ideas and learn from others, and take pride in producing high-quality work.
About The Role
Through mentoring by senior members of the development team and in response to your own aptitudes and strengths, this role will present you with plenty of opportunities for early responsibility. With exposure to a wide range of technologies, and opportunities for growth into areas such as application architecture, research and development, and client relationship and team management, this job represents an exciting and rewarding beginning to a career in professional programming.
Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
Symplectic is the world’s leading developer of integrated research information management systems and our flagship product Elements is used by hundreds of thousands of researchers based in universities and other research intensive organisations across the globe.
Created in 2003 by four friends studying for their PhDs, Symplectic has now grown into a successful international business, with over 30 employees spanning 3 continents – but it still retains the cultural feel of a startup.
Symplectic is part of Digital Science, which works towards making research smarter, more collaborative, and more efficient.
Please note, all candidates must be able to demonstrate the right to live and work in the UK prior to any formal offer of employment.
