Ian went to the University of Birmingham where he built triangular guard robots out of lego, systems to extract skeletal structures from body movement and GPU accelerated neural networks. Thankfully all this was deemed to be relevant and he left with an MSc.

After this he moved to the BBC, working on a wide range of software for embedded devices from prototypes on development hardware to applications in millions of homes.

In his spare time, he can be seen trying to justify a trip to the pub because he has a share in BrewDog and working out what his latest gadget buy could actually be used for.
