Prior to working at Digital Science, Katie worked at Jisc on the open access team, where she did research on the costs and benefits of open access. Katie took a circuitous route to become a data scientist: she began by studying english literature and creative writing, then took computer science and loved it. She wanted to bring the two together by using technology to improve the way information is shared and disseminated.
She did her masters in publishing at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, where she became interested in research and scholarly communication. When she’s not at work, Katie enjoys going on adventures with her campervan, Walter.
