ER&L 2022 (Electronic Resources & Libraries)
The Electronic Resources and Libraries Conference (ER&L) 2022 brings together information professionals from libraries and related industries. ER&L facilitates the exploration of trends, technologies, e-resource management, and digital services in libraries, and brings together the many library and industry roles in a thoughtful, collaborative and education-packed conference.
This year, they’ll be concentrating the program on key big questions in the field. Each big question will provide face-to-face and meaningful networking opportunities to build new relationships.
Digital Science is delighted to be exhibiting virtually at the 2022 conference, as well as presenting a short talk and Q&A as part of the conference program.
Title: Pairing repositories and altmetrics: demonstrating the impact and engagement of research from overlooked disciplines
Conference track 6, Scholarly Communications & Library Publishing
When paired with other tools, an institutional repository can fill gaps in traditional bibliometrics and provide a much more representative picture of your academic campus. The Digital Humanities, the Arts, and Communications disciplines, among others, all produce work that can be overlooked when tracking reporting on published papers and datasets. Combining a repository with an altmetrics tool offers a solution. The repository provides a stable home for the content which enables the altmetrics tool to track reuse and attention. The outcome is a repository that better represents all the academic work on campus and provides a richer understanding of the impact and engagement of works neglected by traditional bibliometrics. In this presentation we use a case study from the repository platform Figshare and the altmetrics tool Altmetric, to illustrate the benefits to researchers and institutions.
