Country

Date

22nd – 23rd Feb, 2022

The Researcher to Reader Conference is a collaborative gathering which aims to be the premier forum for discussion of the international scholarly communications ecosystem – bringing knowledge from the Researcher to the Reader.

Katy Alexander, Global Director of Marketing at Digital Science, will be co-hosting the below workshop at the 2022 conference.

A Disability Toolkit for Scholarly Publishing. How can we enable greater access for disabled people within the scholarly publishing community?

Disability representation within publishing is on the rise; the Publishers Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Report 2020 found 8% of people working in publishing identified as disabled, up from 5% in 2018. But there are still significant gaps (for comparison, nearly 20% of the UK’s working-age population identifies as disabled), and many disabled people face real challenges in the workplace. Workshop participants will identify challenges facing disabled people in our industry and signpost resources to enable disabled people to engage more fully in the community, as well as help colleagues and allies have meaningful conversations about disability in the workplace.
