Steven Hill

Steven Hill is Senior Policy Advisor to the CEO, Digital Science. Until recently, he was Research England’s Director of Research and Chair of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2029 Steering Group. He has worked in research funding for almost 19 years, including as Head of Research Policy at the Higher Education Funding Council for England and Head of the Strategy Unit at Research Councils UK. He has been involved in three REF exercises (2014, 2021, and the current 2029 cycle), and served as a Trustee of the British Science Association.
