eResearch NZ brings together communities that are exploring or innovating the ways digital tools and techniques can be used to advance research outcomes.

The theme for eRNZ 22 is Building Capability Together | Waihanga Āheitanga Kotahitanga. Each word reflects the diverse range of perspectives, communities, and Mātauranga Māori approaches that are layered within Aotearoa New Zealand’s research landscape.

Figshare are looking forward to presenting the following talk as part of the programme, and to be supporting the conference as a Platinum Sponsor.

Session 7B – Āheitanga / Capability, 11:40AM (NZST), Friday 11th February: A community approach to improving category metadata to enhance interoperability

In 2021, Figshare — a repository platform — embarked on a community-led migration of its category schema to FOR2020. In this presentation, we’ll discuss the approach we took to gathering requirements from the community when determining how to deliver this migration. We’ll also present how we considered the community’s needs for interoperability with their existing systems to ensure researchers and administrators weren’t duplicating work and that category information was easily transferred between systems.
