Open science is a hotly debated topic amongst scientists and policy makers. The world of scholarly communication is changing fast and as Japan’s open science strategy is being developed, it is imperative for universities and research institutes to formulate their open access and open data policies, build research infrastructures such as institutional repositories and researcher databases, and provide training so researchers are able to make the most of the opportunities these new platforms offer.

Mark Hahnel, CEO and Founder of Figshare, will be joining a stellar panel to provide an overview of the changing research environment. The event will provide its audience with a better understanding of the academic community needs and help them to understand how these tools and platforms can be used to improve the impact of their research.

Other speakers include:

  • Jiro Kokuryo, Vice-President, Professor of Faculty of Policy Management and Trustee and Chairperson, Keio Academy of New York
  • Ed Gerstner, Regional Scientific Director, Springer Nature, Greater China
