Free food & drink! Six talks! Amazing venue!
#FuturePub is heading to Berlin for our fourth and final event of 2023 🙂 We’re excited to be here during Berlin Science Week and ahead of the inspiring Fallings Walls Science Summit.
We’re hosting this special edition FuturePub to encourage conversations on the Future of Global Research; in many ways, the world now feels more divided than ever, despite the advances in technology that connect our daily lives together. We have a lovely venue — Hotel Palace Berlin — located in the vibrant heart of the city between the Ku’damm and Zoological Garden, just a few stations away from the Brandenburg Gate, and we hope you’ll join us for a thought-provoking evening!

What is FuturePub and how does it work?
We’ve hosted over a dozen #FuturePub events, since our first back in January 2014, and quickly became known as “a staple of the London science tech/publishing scene” (thanks Eva!).
The evenings are designed to be fun and informal – we aim to give opportunities to those working on new ideas and innovations a chance to present and get feedback on their ideas. And did we mention the free food and drink?
In case this is your first time, here’s how it works:
- Five or six quick-fire talks cover a range of new and exciting developments in science & publishing tech.
- These all fit into a one-hour slot (from around 7-8pm), to keep the evening fast-paced and fun! Arrive from 6pm for pre-talk food and drinks!
- The rest of the evening is then open for discussions and conversations over the remainder of the drinks and/or food! We get a great mixture of attendees from the research, tech, publishing and start-up communities, so there will be plenty of people to meet and chat with, especially around such an exciting topic.
Timings for the evening
Here’s the schedule for November 6th:
- 6pm – doors open, drinks available, conversations start
- 6:30pm – food served (tbc)
- 7pm – lightning talks start!
- 8pm – lightning talks end! Remaining food to be consumed
- 8.30pm – food cleared, drinks still available for the continuing conversations
- 10pm – that’s a wrap! Usually a group or two will head to a nearby pub! 🙂
